I am reluctantly selling my 1973 Gilera 50 Trials. I purchased it in September 2011 in a sorry state, silver painted chrome work, wrong seat and on a Q plate. I decided to do a full nut and bolt restoration which took me four years to complete. I have a road bike, mountain bike, my own business and now I have a new grandson. I simply do not have time for all these things so it is time to sell the Gilera to someone I hope will get the most out of it.
Here is a list of some of the work done:
Date related number plate Terence Lane-Smith
Paint work Dream Machine
Full engine rebuild Chris Hawkins
Carburettor clean & restoration Eurocarb Ltd (Dellorto)
Chrome plating Derby Plating Services
Fork legs Philpots
Petrol tank restoration Hartlepool Radiators
Seat P & P Seating
Gilera parts Bob Wright Motorcycles
Wheel restoration Central Wheels
All the above is documented
The bike was first taxed in April 2015 and has been road legal since, it is now taxed till 1st August 2021. I have kept all MOT certificates and its current MOT is until 19th September 2021 The current mileage on the clock from restoration completion is 20 miles (new speedo).
Please note: the photos show the headlight all chrome, this has recently changed. The back is black and the rim is chrome so is the light guard.
As any new buyer of the bike will see from the documentation that accompanies the Gilera an eye watering amount of money has been spent on its restoration. In this sale I just want to recoup as much money back as I possibly can so I don't have a buy it now price, it is by auction only.
Sorry but it is not for sale outside of the UK. Payment is by cash or bank transfer (cleared) on collection.
Please Note: The add says collection from Long Eaton and ebay will not let me edit this. Collection is Mapperley, Nottingham, NG3.
