Seller notes: Stunning Original and Unrestored Bike
Hello and welcome to the auction of my 1980 Honda CBX1000A.
I have owned the bike for 11 years, since it was imported into the UK from the U.S. and as such I am the only keeper as I was the first to register it.
When I took delivery of the bike it was a little unloved but it was all there and very, very original. It was fitted with the incorrect exhaust but at the time, brand new HM422 Sankei systems were still available and I purchased one of these at great cost.
The front of the engine was somewhat dirty so this was painstakingly cleaned and re finished in the correct Honda silver.
Showing around 13000 miles from new which is supported by past MOT tests, the bike is now in stunning, unmarked condition for an original, unrestored bike. All the body and frame paint is original from the day it left the factory as is the finish on the wheels. The seat is all original and in unmarked condition with no cracks or damage to be seen.
About 2 years ago I stripped the carbs and ultrasonically cleaned them and rebuilt them with the Randakks Kits which are probably the best on the market. The bike now starts and runs like a Swiss watch and the throttle response is incredible. It rides like a new bike and pulls so strongly.
It has recently been fitted with new Avon Roadrider tyres and has also been serviced regularly with valve clearances checked and oil and filters changed. All the brakes are as new with new pads all round and the rubber hoses were changed on safety grounds with a set I had specially made to look exactly like the original OEM items.
The only other deviation from standard is the fitment of a Pingel high flow fuel tap. It was fitted when I got the bike and as it's such a good quality item I saw no need to change it.
Over the 11 years I've owned it I've probably done less than 1000 miles and it's now time for it to move to a new owner.
It has the original tool kit onboard and I have all the previous MOT certificates up to last year. It is now registered as a historic vehicle and is now tax and MOT exempt. Everything works as it should and the bike is probably as close to a new bike as you could find, never been abused, bent or messed with.
All in all a stunning example of the much sort after CBX and finished in its original gloss black paintwork it looks incredible.
The bike is up for auction and a reserve has been set that reflects the quality and finish of this very special bike.
A non refundable deposit of £200 is to be paid vial PayPal with 12 hrs of the auction end and the balance to be paid via confirmed direct bank transfer prior to collection.
There will be no test rides and viewing will need to be on a dry, rain free day. Viewing is by appointment only. NO warranty is given or implied for this 41 year old machine.
