Description
Barn find 1929 BSA B29 which is a 250cc side valve single.
V5C present with a transferrable reg: DS 6741. I am told this reg is worth a few grand but I will leave that to you to decide. Tax and MOT exempt at this age.
The bike is scruffy and more or less loosely assembled. Despite this it turns over with good compression and the mag offers a good spark. I took a chance and squirted some carb cleaner in today and within a few kicks it was firing. The carb has bits missing and there is no cable to advance or retard the mag. If these were there I am convinced this machine would actually have run. As the gear lever is hand change and direct to the gearbox, all the gears select nicely. The wheels look to have new spokes with painted rims, so some work has already happened with this machine. There is a bit to do yet, but this is half way home as far as I am concerned.
So this is a barn find vintage BSA that is showing promise. A long way to go, but I have rescued worse. I hope someone will take it on. The reg number will repay a lot of resto costs should you choose to sell it.
Viewing is welcome. Collection is preferred, but I can arrange for delivery within the mainland UK by courier to your door for £ 140.
