Description
This very rare 1941 U1200 big twin is up for sale, I recently purchased the bike with a view to restoring the bike back to its original condition.
I have now decided to let the bike go after recently finding out that the frame is from a later bike, I've been advised that it is a 1955 to 57 Panhead frame but please make your own enquiries.
The bike is in running and riding condition and benefits from some very nice improvements and would make an amazing chopper/bobber with very little work or just as is.
Bike has a later hand gear change fitted to the gearbox, very easy to ride and all gears are smooth, it's paired to a foot clutch and the later mouse trap style hand clutch, all in good working order, so best of both, hand and foot clutch.
The front springer has been upgraded to a 2" longer Samuel front end ( 971551 )
Bike is fitted with vintage oversized Lucas headlight and very nice vintage stop light.
Bike has been rewired to a very high standard
Previous owner stated that the engine was rebuilt in 2015 and then parked, I have no reason to doubt this but there does appear to be a fuel leak when the bike is parked for a week or so.
V5 is in hand and in my name, first registration is down as 19 01 2011 and it is down as declared manufactured 1941 and has one former keeper.
I have the air cleaner cover and mouse trap cover that go with the bike...
I'll upload a YouTube video of the bike running, please search "1941 Harley Davidson U1200 running".
This is a great bike that could be a very rare chance to get on these ever increasing in value timecapsules at a reasonable price.
The frame is a H/D frame that hasn't been cut or welded and the seat post hole has a rubber bund in it. The gearbox is the original U 4 speed with a later type Rachel top, I have the original top if the need to convert make to original is required.
The bike is located in Ash Surrey Gu12 area. I will post some pictures of frame case markings today.
