Description
1957 Triumph T21 350cc.
Here is a good running little 350cc Triumph, an ideal everyday classic, starter classic or all weather alternative. The bike is in reasonable / average old bike condition. A long way from pristine but presentable enough for a useable / used machine. Starts very easily, very manageable to kick up and to handle (17” rims). The engine sounds good. No strange noises, no smoke in exhaust. Rides well nice and smooth decent acceleration all good gears and clutch. Handles nicely and brakes are good.
Smith's 120mph Chronometric speedometer is working well, charging system is working properly still on standard 6V set up. Charging easily compensates for the lighting. This is a good little runner, old and well used but still giving good service.
The bike comes with V5C doc, registration number 975 XVR, (cannot be transferred to another vehicle). Frame number is H418, engine number is 21 H418. These numbers match the V5C. The bike is registered as an Historic Vehicle therefore road tax is free and it is MOT exempt.
Cosmetically as already mentioned the bike is older looking. It is ideal for someone who wants a reasonably presentable bike that they don't have to bother about too much and don't need to live in fear of the odd rain shower. The enamel on the frame is practical and reasonably presentable but on close inspection it has been touched up and brushed up here and there over the years. The tank has a very nice paint job and it is good and clean on the iside, not been linered or pet-sealed. Other tin-ware is decent but used looking. Mudguards are not particularly pretty, the bike would be improved with a nice set of stainless or even black enamelled basic steel T90/T100 guards. Front rim is a CWC English rim but has poor chrome. Spokes are perfectly clean “Rustless” type. Front tyre is a Pirelli Mandrake, 3.00 x 17 which looks practically unused. Rear rim is a Radelli, reasonable but patchy chrome. Rear spokes have been silver painted, nipples look good. The seta is nice and comfortable. It has a couple of ting nicks in the cover. Exhaust system is very sound, older looking chrome but not bad. The nearside down pipe has worst patches in chrome otherwise it's just slight age related dulling. Good side and centre stands fitted. Engine looks tidy and not to have been messed with for a long time! There is no fin damage, it's oil tight and generally dull and unpolished. All in all this is a nice little classic Triumph to own ride or improve to a higher standard.
