Description
Late 1940s (paint) restored 1941 WlA Flathead. Looks factory/dealer applied paint on the tins. Only 2260 produced and possibly less than 50 survived.
Please note that a 41WLA sold for 44k last month. This is way more of a bike. Clean CA title in my name. Fully serviced.
The rarest of all Harley war horses is this first year 1941 WLA. Only 2260 of these machines were made in 1941 and most certainly saw action in WWII. Later In 1942 Harley made 80,000 of these machines and it is hard to tell today which ones served the war, and which ones sat in bases in Europe and South Africa. I would be surprised if 50 of them survived today. What takes this rare bike to the next level is that it is a time capsule from the late 1940s. The original Beck grips that were last made in 1947, the Deluxe Aluminum footboards last made in late 1940s, Eight Original Glo Brite Jewels from 1940s and the paint that is indicative of original paints of that era are all signs of this time capsule from the 40s.
Amazingly, this war hero returned home unscathed and when refinished in the late 1940s had the newest of the day tank emblems, tombstone light and ignition cover added. The rest seems all original from 1941. The inside of the gas tank is perfect, and she started on the first kick after hibernation of couple of decades. Today, all are trying to imitate this bike to look like the era which is long gone. She is the real deal! The period-correct Flight Red introduced in 1941 shows incredibly even after 70 plus years and is redder than Marilyn Monroe's lips. Harley stopped making the 41 WLA at around serial number 41WLA9000 and this bike is 6 numbers behind that. Please note the front forks and the 16 inch wheels introduced in 1942. This very late 41WLA is a crossover between two years and considered acceptable by collectors. What an amazing piece of history that is sure to be the envy of any friend's circle or club.
