Description

Purchased in May 2003 from Abingdon Honda main dealer (first registered March 2002), I have been the second owner of this amazing bike for the past 23 years. There's so much to say about it, but it's been a passion and something I've lived with for the best part of my biking life. I never thought I'd end up selling it but after wrist and knee operations I'm too old and knackered to ride the SP2; it isn't getting the use it needs (I've only managed 1500 miles in the past 5 years!). Suffice to say no expense has been spared on it, and meticulous attention to detail has been given. It's always been garaged and has only ever had the best and genuine Honda parts for servicing.
"Why is this SP2 so special?" As well as the stunning condition, this bike stands out because it has two expensive and desirable upgrades: an Akrapovic full race titanium system with end cans (road legal and MoT friendly), plus Ohlins fully adjustable rear suspension with a front fork equivalent upgrade. These give significant performance improvements; the full exhaust system is extremely rare.
The bike has covered 44,576 miles. Everything about it is genuine and I've folders of documentation and receipts.
Cosmetically, the only non-standard items are carbon front and rear huggers (the originals were white plastic front and nothing at the rear), and the wheels are painted "Honda gold" (the originals were black). See later, but it would be very easy to put the bike back to "factory original" should you choose as I have all the parts.
Condition As you see from the photos, the bike is in stunning condition. There is no damage and little signs of wear, everything works as it should (there really are no gremlins). The only things preventing me saying it is "mint" are a few chips to the paint on the wheels, and one or two very small marks on the tank (which are invisible in the photos). All fasteners, where possible, have been replaced with stainless steel equivalents.
Upgrades Here's a brief list of all the modifications/enhancements; as a member of the RC51 forum, I've implemented quite a few other recommended tweaks to make this such a smooth & brilliant-handling ride:

Maintenance, Service & MoT History This SP2 has been maintained and serviced to Honda requirements and I have receipts/documents for everything that has been carried out. Recent servicing includes: New Yuasa battery ~1k miles ago; New DID x-ring gold chain and both sprockets (I run 42/15 sprockets) less than 800 miles ago; New Dunlop Roadsmart 3 front tyre in May 2025 together with oil (Castrol Power 1 Racing) and Honda filter change;
And there's nothing due for a long time to come, as valve clearance (with photos), new plugs, new coolant, new brake & clutch fluid, clean & re-oil K&Ns, have all been done to schedule.
It has an MoT with no advisories which expires at the end of June 2026 (I have the complete MoT history).
Conclusion I guarantee you will not be disappointed with this SP2, I just wish I was 22 years younger again! I'm happy to discuss anything about it, and open to sensible offers and may be able to help with transportation. It needs a good home and to be ridden as it was designed to be. Thanks for looking.
PSSorry but I will not take any items off the bike for separate sale; I've had lots of enquiries for the exhaust system, but this is an integral part of the bike and it is mapped to run with this exhaust. Thanks for the interest????
