Description
Harley Custom 2007 1584cc
Firstly, I am after a 1340 Shovelhead, if that helps with a deal!
In 2008, I purchased a 2007 Street Bob with the sole purpose of turning it into an old-school cruiser styled bike. The reason for buying a Street Bob was because it had twin rear shocks. Many people use the softail frame to give it a hardtail look, but I wanted the old Electra Glide look! (Not that I'm opposed to the hardtail look; I just think it's been done a lot.)
The Bob, when I started out, was tip-top! I rode it around for about a year before it came into my workshop for its makeover!
I started with a modern Heritage front end with a Road King Nacelle, which I had powder-coated. The front fender is from an older model Harley (not sure which model), but it came from eBay, and I liked the look! The handlebars are Paughco — proper old school!
For the center tank console, I fitted the ignition switch, then after cleaning off all the standard wrinkle finish paint, I had it chromed. Harley footboards with controls were fitted. The saddle was recovered in leather by a friend who makes horse saddles for a living. If you look at the rear of the seat, it has a red insert to match the paint.
I added brand-new aftermarket solid-look rear shocks (just like the old Electra Glides!). I managed to source some original panniers from a 59 Electra Glide. The rear fender is the original Bob fender, which I grafted the bottom section from an old fender I had kicking around the shop. The rear lights are 59 Cadillac fin lights. The bars around the panniers were made from polished 316-grade stainless steel. The exhausts are Vance & Hines duals with fishtail ends.
I fitted the bike with a power commander, so she moves as well! The 'custom' badges on the panniers are from an old 50s Ford pickup I once had. I then sprayed the bike in its current colors, and the pin striping was done by a top UK pinstriper. There are lots of other bits and bobs that have been done, but I think the main things have been listed.
It is, if you don't already know, a 1600cc fuel-injected engine. I've just given it a full service, and it's ready to go!
I've been to Spain and France on her without any problems (well, not with the bike anyway! Haha!).
The reason for selling is that I do have a few bikes, and as my wife says, “You only have one arse!” Seriously though, I don't seem to ride her that much.
Of course, if you have any further questions, feel free to ask, or if you want to come and look!
I'm open to a deal on a big Shovelhead, but only if it is American and pre-1960!
