Description
Norton Commando 850.
I am reluctantly selling due to the recent purchase of another project which needs much money spending on it.
My lovely Commando which I have enjoyed a great Summer riding must now go to a new owner.
Before anybody asks. it is a UK bike with matching numbers and comes with a huge history file consisting of manuals. parts catalogues. service notes. invoices. handbooks. magazines. old MOT's. old tax discs. and spare keys etc.
It was rebuilt about ten years ago at great cost with mostly stainless parts. It has stainless wheel rims. spokes. headlight brackets. wheel spindles and most nuts and bolts. Engine was re-built around 4000 miles ago with superblend bearings etc. etc. I have a list of all of the new parts.
I have recently spent another £500. 00 on new parts. New tyres. new high capacity gel battery (electric starter works a treat). new carb slides and carb overhaul kits. new throttle cables. new KN air filter. new front brake pads. all oils and oil filter replaced and other general parts to bring up to scratch.
It has original steel petrol tank fitted and will come with a box of useful spares. Last owner even documented how many miles he did each year which was not many.
It is MOTed until next May and I have just sorned it for the winter. It runs very well and everything works. Handles well. sounds great and is a joy to ride.
Downsides are small but just to be honest I will list them anyway. Front brake is not great. I read that having the chrome taken off helps a lot. No indicators. there were none when I bought it. If bike is left unstarted for long periods it wet sumps ie oil filters into the sump. this is really easy and quick to sort. just take out sump plug. drain oil and put back into the tank. take five minutes and off you go. Probably needs new exhaust header gaskets (easy fix) as it pops on the overrun. Apart from that it is really easy to live with and if you are old like me with dodgy knees the electric start is so much better than trying to kick it over.
I am listing at a very sensible price for a quick sale but please no silly offers as they will not be accepted.
If you want to view then please call me. my numbers are on the listing.
Can be delivered in my local East Kent area.
