This very rare and much sought after 1975 Norton Commando 850 MkII with matching numbers has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 19612 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks.
As you may or maynot know. here at DK Motorcycles we have very little knowledge or experience with these classic British bikes but luckilly you aficianados usually know exactly what you're looking at. As you can see this bike is very nearly complete missing just the indicators. It has had a single carb conversion done but we've got the original carbs. airbox & cables + silencers.
BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS. A true time warp machine! The wheels are straight with nice clean chrome rims (rear has small dent). good hubs. discs. calipers & working master cylinders. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Mudguards are both solid. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look great. Carburetor is free sliding off the twist grip. Paintwork is presentable. fuel tank is usably clean inside and has just minor dents/marks & scratches in the original paint. Exhausts are solid. Seat base is in solid condition throughout but cover is punctured. The engine is cosmetically very clean. it turns over nicely off the kick starter & electric – sounds/feels good & has compression – When we fed it a few squirts of ether it fires & tries to start & run but it. obvious the carb needs attention.
If you require any further information please give us a call or better still visit our showroom and have a good look over the bike for yourself – after all who are you going to believe me or your own eyes?
If you are ready for a winter project & have been looking for a classic Norton Commando to restore then look no further – THIS ONE COULD BE YOURS!
