1976 Works Texaco Heron Team Suzuki RG500 Mk1 XR14

Here Is A Machine From My Private Collection That I Purchased Directly From Bonhams In October 2006. This Is A Stunning Example Of The Works Texaco Heron Team Suzuki RG500 Mk1 - The XR14 - Fitted With The 56x50. 5mm Engine. Noteworthy Features Include Genuine XR14 Magnesium Wheels & Large Diameter Air Assisted Front Suspension Forks. These Are Special Components Only Ever Fitted To The Works Machines. The Tyres Fitted Consist Of A Michelin Slick Rear And a PZ2 Front Which Is A Combination Commonly Used During This Period. When I Brought It From Bonhams It Had Also Come From A Private Collection. And Was Previously Acquired Directly From Ex-Grand Prix Racer Rob Bron And Had Only Just Been Finished From A Complete ‘Last Nut & Bolt' Restoration By A Recognised Specialist. The Catalogue Advised That It Had Run For Only A Short Time Since The Rebuild. It Has Been Dry Stored Since Then The Machine Is Wearing The Colours Of Barry Sheene Due To Being Part Of a Collection. But I Would Like To Make Clear Its Not An Actual Barry Sheene Bike. Ex-works Japanese racing motorcycles of the 1970s are offered for sale on the open market only rarely. making this particular machine an especially enticing prospect for discerning collectors.
