1976 Suzuki GT55095% Fully Re Built with ALL NOS Parts
This is my 1976 Suzuki GT550 which was imported from Arizona 2 years ago. I have restored the bike over the last 2 years using ONLY New Old Stock ( NOS ) Suzuki Parts where possible.
Here is the Long list of what has been done to make this bike Perfect !
Engine Fully Re Built by Higg Speed in Blackpool. Re Bored +5 New Pistons. New Rings. New Big Ends. New Little Ends. New Con Rods. New Mains and seals ( which was the reason for the rebuild in the first place. but in for a penny in for a thousand plus ! )
In other words a complete new engine. which was run in Very Carefully and is now running on Full Synthetic 2 Stroke oil. Oil Pump re build kit fitted.
New Front Fork oil seals fitted and new swing arm bushes fitted. so the bike is nice and tight. just as it was when new.
Here is a list of the other New Parts fitted. starting from the front of the bike.
New OE Single stay front mud guard NOS, New Head light bowl with halogen light fitted NOS, New Indicators, New Mirrors New set of clocks ( Brand New Old Stock ) just couldn't resist having them ! NOS New Motobatt Battery, New seat ( aftermarket ), New Rear Shocks NOS, New Chain Guard NOS New Rear Mudguard NOS New Rear Light Bracket NOS New Exhaust baffle NOS New Fuel Tap NOS New Carb to Cylinder Inlet Tubes NOS Boyer Brandsen Electronic Ignition pack, New Bridgestone Front and Rear tyres fitted.
When I bought this bike 2 years ago. I bought it because I wanted it. not knowing all the pit falls of buying a 36 year old motorbike ! the engine ran well but I didn't know about the crankshaft oil seal problems these bikes suffer from. so after ridding it for a few miles and seeing it smoking like crazy I took it to Higg Speed in Blackpool. where Dave kindly told me about the crankshaft oil seals perishing and the only way to replace them was to strip the engine down completely and so the FULL rebuilt started !
So in for a penny. the Whole Engine was rebuilt. the engine casings were Vapor Blasted and so were the carbs. after what seemed to be an eternity the engine was put back together after a re bore and new +5 pistons. rings. little ends. con rods. big ends. mains and of course the bloody New Oil seals and the oil pump was rebuilt with new seals as a precaution and the carbs had a Full rebuild kit fitted from Mikuni. Not the poor quality parts.
The frame was in Very Good condition due to where the bike had come from. so to keep some originality the frame was touched in as and where needed. which was only a couple of small patches.
New fork oil seals fitted and New rear arm bushes fitted to keep it nice and tight.
I then found a new set of clocks in Cyprus ( Brand New never fitted ) so again I had to buy them and so the hunt for New Old Stock parts began. New front single stay mud guard ( rare as rocking horse sh-t ) New Headlight Bowl from America. with Halogen light fitting. New Mirrors. New after market indicators x4. New Chain Guard. new Rear Mud Guard. New after market rear shocks. New Exhaust baffle. etc. I'm sure you get the idea.
New Front and Rear Bridgestone Dual compound tyres fitted with new inner tubes.
Oh yes then the keys didn't all match. so New Locks bought so Steering Lock. Ignition. Fuel Cap and seat are all on the same key. they all match.
The total mileage since the FULL engine rebuild is what it says on the clock 276 miles. the bike is MOT'd for 12 months and taxed for 12 months too ( at time of writing this advert )
The Electric Start works and the gear indicator works too. EVERYTHING on the bike works and runs like a DREAM. if it didn't I would have fixed it.
The bike has never seen water since I have owned it and is in the garage under lots of soft covers.
The exhaust has no dents and is Very good. although it does have a few slight marks. but not enough to make me want to re chrome or replace. so still very nice.
The bike starts on the first crank and sounds nice and crisp and crackly. like a New GT550 should. Not too sure I even want to sell it. but I'm scared to death of dropping something on it and damaging it when its sat in the garage.
