Description
1977 T140v Triumph Bonneville
Both US and UK tanks are included as well as a set of "High bars and hoses".
She comes with a history file an "inch thick" which authenticates the bikes last 30 odd years and receipts for a host of recognised sensible upgrades. The engine was completely rebuilt from the sludge trap upwards by Highgear of London less than 9000 miles ago. The crankshaft is balanced the rods were shot peened new mains etc. and she runs as smooth as any 70's bonnie you are likely to ride. pulling clean and smooth up to 80mph with no hestitation and very little vibration. The bike has been used on a regular basis all this summer and starts first/ second kick and ticks over evenly as you would expect. There is no smoke and its one of the quietest motors ive heard in a long time.
The following list is by no means exhaustive but will give you a taste of what this bike has. Dating certificate from the TOMCC. Hyde 7 plate clutch conversion. Hyde oil cooler. SRM rocker feed. Boyer electronic ignition. and regulator rectifier conversion. Final cut exhaust conversion. Tri cor internal oil filter conversion. Stainless rear rim and spokes. Stainless rear master cylinder and brake pistons. Lucas indicators all round. and original switch gear. recent new chrome grab rail. recent new wiring harness. recent new chrome headlight shell and rim. New Amal premier carbs. recent chrome shocks. recent ethanol proof fuel taps and fuel lines. stainless front and rear spindles. stainless chain adjusters. in fact to much stainless and chrome to list. Chain and sprocks in excellent condition and good tyres. Paint work on both tanks in excellent condition and both professional jobs @ £500 each not "Halford spraycan specials".
The bike has not been restored. but has been a continued "work in progress" over the years. hence she is not perfect only very very good. both front and rear guards are obviously the original article as are the headlight shrouds. There is no rust or pitting just 30 odd years of use. The same with the frame and exhaust system. The front rim is good but not perfect and this was to be the next job before the spring. Sadly this will not now happen as the bike was brought for my wife but a knee injury now makes starting the bike impossible. hence the reason for the sale.
Only two weeks ago the bike won an award for the best Meriden classic at the North Staffs TOMCC branch concourse. The bike has 5 months tax left and will have a brand new MOT before the new owner picks her up.
The bike is also advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the sale early.
Forgot to mention the matching frame and engine no's plus matching crank cases.
