Description
1970 BSA A50 Royal Star Pre OIF – Matching engine and frame numbers.
Sadly due to a recent house renovation I have for sale my fully restored BSA.
Less than 250 miles since comprehensive nut and bolt rebuild with accompanying photographs.
This is a truly stunning bike! And turns heads whenever it's out. In my opinion probably the best year for these bikes benefitting from the TLS front brake. 500cc which is much kinder on the 'vulnerable bottom end bearing' unlike the more common A65's.
I got completely carried away with this restoration. with absolutely no expense spared. I have receipts in excess of £6000 for all parts purchased and work done. It's hard to know where to begin with this description.
Engine / gearbox completely stripped and professionally examined. All necessary engineering machining work carried out before being rebuilt with new components where necessary. including valves and guides. re bore. pistons and rings. 7 disc clutch conversion. primary chain. RM magnetic drain. New Amal carb. exhausts etc. etc.
Frame and ancillary components powder coated.
Original wheel rims re chromed. stainless spokes fitted and hubs stove enamelled then professionally rebuilt. and fitted with new Dunlop tyres.
New brakes. chain. sprockets. front forks rebuilt.
All chrome has either been replaced for new. or rechromed where possible. This includes the fuel tank which has also been professionally repainted and pin striped.
Approximately 98% of all nuts. bolts. washers. lugs. spindles etc. have been replaced with polished stainless steel items (mainly supplied by Lightening Spares or SRM).
Smith's rev counter and speedometer professionally restored (retaining original mileage).
Original Seat reupholstered by R K Leighton.
New braided wiring harness and electrical components including sensors. switches. ammeter. lamps. coils etc.
Boyer electronic ignition
Hidden Pazon Regulator (Zenor diode etc. still fitted for originality)
All new control cables. levers. kick start. rubbers etc.
Where new parts have had to be used. I have always tried to obtain the best quality - hence the hefty pile of receipts.
I have a couple of manuals. parts books and a few bits and bobs left over from this restoration which I can throw in also.
Pretty heartbroken as this has to go. Someone may also get a bargain!
I do recommend you come and view the bike (you won't be disappointed).
The bike is currently Sorn and has never seen a wet or salty road since rebuild - Ready to go for Spring !
