Description
For sale is the very first Mk 2 BSA Rocket 3 made.
Matching engine and frame numbers.
A bike with known history and being number one must be very desirable to a Rocket 3 enthusiast.
I have a letter dated Nov 1995 from R B Allen. machine registrar of the TR3OC confirming the
following history of the bike.
6-11-70 Bike built.
7-11-70 On loan to Lancaster house for press launch of 1971 BSA models.
2-12-70 Registered to BSA.
Summer 71 Road tested by Bike magazine - this was the very first Bike magazine and in it this bike
was road tested against a Norton Commando in a 7 page report.
29-7-71 On loan to Borne in Belgium.
9-11-71 Returned to BSA.
2-6-72 Sold secondhand to RSW----
12-5-75 Sold to RB--- (without logbook ?)
18-6-75 RB---- applies for and obtains a replacement / continuation logbook.
18-10-80 Sold to DA---
29-1-05 Sold to myself.
DA--- tidied the bike up from 1980 to 1985 and I have a lot of receipts spent during this time including
a receipt for a new speedo.
As you can see from the photo's it is in excellent condition with a nice used patina.
I bought the bike with approx. 1750 miles on the speedo and I have only increased this to 3200 miles which is all it has done since 1980.
When the bike was road tested in Bike magazine it had a small export tank and a grey frame. I assume when the bike was sold to RSW the larger UK tank was fitted and the frame was painted black.
Taxed and MOT'd.
Call for more details or if you want to come and have a look at it.
