Description
For sale here is a 1953 model BSA C11S4, with telescopic front fork, plunger rear suspension and original four speed gearbox option.
I have a BSA owner's club date certificate which will be enough to get it re-registered.
It has lain dismantled in a shed for over fifty years since an abortive rebuild attempt. The bike was originally delivered to W. J. Chambers & Co Belfast in November 1952.
It came with the correct type of engine fitted, also from the same year. As it is a Northern Ireland machine and has been in England since around 1980 it is not required to have a NOVA certificate, this is backed up by the BSA owners club report I have.
It has been reassembled to show that it is complete in all major parts and all of the rare tinwork is present and in decent order.
Odd parts that were missing have been replaced with year correct components. This includes a very nice original chrome tank and the 1953 model only side trims.
It has the correct carburetor as well as an original but battered Smiths 80mph Chronometric speedometer. I always get mine rebuilt anyway, an expensive shiny one is just as likely to be worn out!
The engine appears to be free but I have not tried turning it over as it can cause a lot of damage if the oil pump is gummed up.
The kickstarter is free but the gear change shaft is seized in its bush. Nothing a little heat and profanity can't sort out.
It is a complete restoration project but you won't be hunting around for bits or finding that half of it is from something else like you often do with a basket case.
Selling as I have many motorcycles and not enough sheds to put them in!
