Description
Rickman/Royal Enfield Interceptor Classic British Bike
Location: Bristol. UK
A rare opportunity to purchase a unique motorcycle. It is a genuine one owner/low mileage bike I bought it new in 1974 from Elite Motors. and I have the original receipt.
I added rear sets and clip ons. together with a matching half fairing (all from Rickman) in 1976 to provide a more comfortable riding position.
A pair of Cambray 7 spoke cast minimum wheels were made for me using the original Borrani wheels as a template.
The motorcycle was used in the summer months from '74 to '77. again in 84/85 and finally in 1995. In the interim periods it has been garage stored.
The original kph speedo failed in 1977 with c. 8,000 km. and was replaced with a mph one. This currently reads 1,505 miles. supported by the last MOT (May 95) where the recorded mileage is 808. The front tyre is the one it left the factory with. and the rear tyre replaced once in 1976. I changed the engine oil at 1000 mile intervals. The tank has never held any ethanol petrol. and I filled the carburretors from an external source to ensure that it starts and runs. which it does.
All fibreglass is in excellent condition. save for small "spider-like" crack in the gel coat behind the seat. and a small chip by the fuel filler. cap which has been there since day one. The nickel plated frame is in very good condition with just some small surface blemishes. There is flaking on the rear sets. clutch lever and front pipes that would benefit from replating.
I have just fitted a brand new battery to check out the electrics. which are fully functioning.
Workshop and Parts Manuals are included. as is an unused spare screen. the original wheels and the set of chain adjusters. I also have a letter from Derek Rickman enclosing an extract from the factory records to that shows manufacture in late 1970. thereby qualifying for £nil road fund duty.
Viewing is welcomed and I will be pleased to answer any questions you have. or provide more photos of any part of the bike that you wish to see more of.
Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions. or feel free to call me if it is easier.
