Description
Here is my lovely Honda CB500K0 reluctantly for sale due to lack of space.
This bike has had one owner from new on the original buff type log book. first registered 5th April 1972 although it is a first year and rare 1971 K0 model. Matching frame and engine numbers it was bought and used for one year only by the previous owner and then stored for the rest of its life! It was originally registered on the buff log book by Streamline Motorcycles on 05/04/1972 and then sold on 24/03/1972 to the chap I bought it from who was a farmer. The mileage is just 1438 on the un-faded clocks. it still has the original and ONLY tax disc it has ever had fitted at a cost of £3. 65 back in 1972. It has the original and unused tool-kit under the seat and the original owners handbook together with a full set of four keys. The bike has a lovely "Patina" about it in its original condition. It was brought out of storage in August of 1999 and MOT'd and fitted with a brand set of genuine exhausts at 1223 miles which are still like brand new today. The bike brand new cost £652. 15 on the road and he part exchanged a Triumph T16 for which he received the sum of £170. 00. Delivery was £4. 00!
The bike is really nice and original but I have replaced the seat for a NOS genuine Honda item. there was nothing wrong with the original but a new one came up and I bought it as it looks better. I do not have the old seat. I have changed the indicators and a few fasteners but I still have the originals to go with the bike and are included in the sale. The tank has a dent on the left side as shown in the pictures and the story is that the Farmer owner went away for a weekend and when he returned the bike had a few extra miles on the clock and a small dent in the tank but his two sons denied riding it! The left side engine cover badge was dented so I have removed it but there is a NOS genuine one included in the sale. The tank also shows a bit of crazing under the paint but remember that this is a 43 year old motorcycle! The tank has at some point in the past been lined. The side panels are however perfect. The engine runs fine as you would expect from such low usage and purrs like a kitten but I would advise a service and probably have the carburettors ultra-sonically cleaned. It still has the original front "Bacon Slicer" front number plate on the front mudguard which has a few rust spots. It still has the yellow paint on certain parts of the machine which the Japanese manufacturers used to use on certain parts for either warranty purposes or for safety purposes. The chrome work on the whole is very good thanks to the Honda build quality of the time but is 40 odd years old.
Somebody has suggested that the CB500K0 models are super rare in the UK and that it could be an original early dealer demonstrator model which would make sense. the original registration number is quite interesting on its own. This bike is over 42 years old and original. it is not "mint" but is exceptionally nice and original and when I had it delivered I was pleasantly surprised due to its originality. I was not disappointed.
I collect low mileage bikes and this fitted in well but I am not a Honda lover as I prefer Ducati. Yamaha and Kawasaki machines. It is of course tax exempt. The bike has no tax or MOT. The tyres are period versions fitted back in 1999. The front brake requires attention due to lack of use and standing so long.
