Description
Original and unmolested Bourget Kruzer FXR in kandy cobalt blue. Full SVA work carried out by Steve Brown at Chopper Haven in Exeter and then the bike was put back together exactly as it was when it left the Bourget factory in 2000. I imported the bike at the end of 2006 with 9. 000 miles on the clock. I have added another 4. 000 miles on it in the UK.
The V5 is in my name and the bike is registered as a Bourget Kruzer FXR. The bike currently has the registration plate K 1 FXR which is NOT included in the sale. However. the number plate could be purchased by separate negotiation.
For those not familiar with Bourgets. this is a hand-built. minimalist. pro-street style. custom motorcycle designed and built by Roger Bourget. It has a very low seat height due to Roger Bourget's signature oil-in-frame design. The only instrumentation is a speedo and an oil pressure gauge. Virtually all cycle parts are polished billet aluminium.
I have the original build specification (see photo) which identifies. amongst other things:-
- 40 degree rake
- S&S 113” motor with powder coated blue barrels
- S&S Super G carburetor
- EVA cam
- El Primo 3” open primary belt drive
- Bourget branded (JMA) 6 pot differential bore calipers
- Chaos style wheels with matching disc carriers and rear pulley
- Progressive shock absorbers
- Micro-switch switchgear
- LED indicators etc. etc
The bike is in excellent condition. The only known faults are that the powder coating is peeling off the barrels and the chrome is also flaking from the clutch end plate cover. The bike is awesomely powerful and the pipes are ridiculously loud and have been known to activate car alarms when riding past. The handling isn't too bad for a chopper given the 40 degree rake but you certainly won't be taking on CBR600's in the bendy bits. The bike is reliable and has never let me down. On the open road. at 75 mph in top. the engine is silky smooth.
I am not aware of another Kruzer in the UK so you're unlikely to find yourself parked next to another. In the 7 years that I've owned the bike I've kept an eye out for other Bourgets advertised in Autotrader and Ebay and I've only seen about 6 others advertised in the UK during that time and none have been the Kruzer model. Bourget still make the Kruzer. in bagger style. at a cost of in excess of $40. 000. If you bought one of these you'd incur shipping charges and import duty at 20% which would push the UK price to circa £30. 000. and that's if you did the SVA work yourself. Test rides will only be permitted with proof of insurance and £10. 000 cash-in-hand. Genuine reason for sale – I have decided its time to get a slightly less radical bike. No p/x's please.
Thankyou for looking.
