Description
Here we have a 1956 DB 34 Goldstar barn find. Can't be many of these out there now! The bike is 99% original. The engine has had a total rebuild with hundreds spent on it. The crankshaft was rebuilt with new main and timing side shafts, new rivets, some welding, and refurbished big end, new rollers, small end, and new main bearings. It is the later DBD crank. The cylinder head, a DBD one, has had new seats, guides, valves, and springs, new piston rings, new pushrods, gaskets, and various new bolts, nuts, and fittings. The crankcases' mag platform was welded and re-slotted, and some helicoils were fitted on the primary side. The mag seal housing was welded and re-machined. The magneto was totally rebuilt by Chris Gould with £200 worth of new parts.
I refitted the engine to the unrestored bike with new oil pipes and fittings. I fitted a Viton needle in the float chamber to cure flooding. The engine has been run about four times, for about 1 hour in total. I have also taken it out for about 20 miles. It pulls well and runs smooth with no rattles or smoke. The gearbox is stamped RR T, and I've looked inside—it has needle rollers on the layshaft, but seems to ride like an RRT 2 as the first gear is high and there is no step into second as with the RR box. Gears all select, and there is no whine in third or any other gear. The engine will need to be run in.
Please note: THE TANK PICTURED IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE! I took it off my Gold Star to enable me to run the bike. The original genuine BSA one will need restoring. THERE IS NO V5 WITH THE BIKE. It has a Gold Star Owners Club dating letter, which will allow an age-related number as there are no documents with the bike. It is as it came to me 12 years ago and had been stored for many years. A rare and fantastic chance to restore and own a Gold Star. I'm afraid I don't have the time now to finish it.
I will answer questions as quickly as possible. Viewing can be arranged. No time wasters, tyre kickers, or pipe smokers. It will require a £500 deposit by PayPal and cash on collection only. The bike is also advertised elsewhere for sale, so I reserve the right to remove it if no longer available.
