Laverda 3cl Jota Spec 1977 'Best in Show' double this season, Stunning - 925mls

Stunning Laverda 3CL but in full Jota Spec. back on road in May after 25 years.  This handsome machine has taken two 'Best in Show' awards this year in some really good company.  The bike has matching numbers. is fitted with period correct 'Thin Web' wheels which have had many hours lavished on them and look the business.  It has the benefit of a hydraulic clutch release to ease the pain and a DMC electronic ignition system to smooth things out. The motor received the full attention of Slaters back in 2009. unfortunately the previous long term owner passed away before moving on with the restoration. their bills at the time were around £3. 5k  The vast majority of fasteners on the bike are stainless steel and have been individually hand finished in the lathe - time consuming but look lovely!  I could rattle on but suffice to say this machine is stunning and thats not just my opinion. as I've tootled about on it running in many people have gone out of their way to express their admiration for the beast.  For me it could just sit as a piece of sculpture. but ride it and it makes the most fantastic sound. I ride a 996 and tuned old Guzzi but it beats both for hairs on the back of your neck sound.  So this machine does not have a single item on it that has not been restored. please do not get in touch to tell me its not original as I know. but I cannot resist making improvements where they are really needed. Update : I have now fitted double H sintered brake pads to all three callipers in order to sharpen up the braking performance which will be as good as it gets (once bedded in) for this era as all brake components are fully refurbished with new teflon coated pistons. new seals. stainless steel braided hoses. stainless steel retaining pins and clips and last but not least floating disc brakes on alloy carriers.  The second upgrade is to refit the original re-chromed flip up filler cap with the new seal system from a new stainless steel cap.  The reason for this is that the new replacements have a better design of aperture seal and can be used as a direct replacement. the original chromed cap just looks right. I am currently cleaning the bike to the point where it will be as it was at final assembly. Cheers. ob
