Description
Hi. I am selling my BSA B 40 which I have owned for many years. I bought it as a road going bike but have slowly converted it to trail riding spec. I have used it for the last five years in the Beamish Trophy Trial which it has completed every time with ease. As I'm sure you will know it is 110 miles on and off road so any bike has to be well sorted to complete the task!
The bike has had a lot of money spent on it over the years and a huge amount of time. It has Marzocchi front forks from a Fantic 200 complete with a ceriani front hub and alloy rim. the wheel has been rebuilt with stainless spokes. Heavy duty inner tube and new trials tyre. New brake shoes and bearings. Forks have good stanchions and have new seals etc. I have converted the headstock to run taper roller bearings.
The main frame is fairly standard and has been spray galvanised and powder coated. The swing arm is from a fantic 200. As is the rear wheel which has also been completely rebuilt with stainless spokes new bearings. brake shoes etc.
The rear shock absorbers are brand new. I have also had a new seat made with black leather cover. Bit posh for a trail bike but looks good.
The motor has a Rex Caunt ignition system which works really well. It has Terry weedy kick start and gear lever. It still runs the original monoblock carb which has no issues that I am aware of. The gearbox has just been removed and serviced and a new splined gear selector shaft fitted. The oil tank is standard as this bike has been used for distance so needs more oil than in an alloy trials unit. The tank is in good nick and has no rust at all though it has some small dents and scratches as this bike has been used off and on road.
Generally a very sorted bike for what it is used for that is in very good condition. Nearly every nut and bolt is stainless and most other components are alloy or plated.
The bike has to go so take the opportunity while it is there. Happy to have anyone come to have a look as its always better to see things first hand. The bike is in my classroom at the moment where I teach metalwork!
