BSA GOLD STAR CLUBMAN with MATCHING NUMBERS & TT HISTORY

This Goldie was stripped and entirely re-built to totally immaculate Concours show condition some 20 odd years ago by a friend. Gordon Chatterton and lived in his dining room along side his Concours Manx Norton. I found out. completely out of the blue from a mutual friend about 3 years ago that Gordon was thinking of selling it. As soon as I got home I rang him and arranged to see him the next day and then went round and bought it. Having known and lusted after it for 20 odd years I intended to fit a Pearson self starter. two leading shoe front brake and touring bars. but having reached the age of 84. one of the penalties is a great reduction in ones strength and the ability to manoeuvre a bike on or off the stand and man handle about has become a problem and a worry about dropping it so it is with deep regret that I have decided to sell it. It has 19" Dunlop flanged alloy rims. 1½" GP carb. 190mm front brake. Finned Goldie rear hub. RRT2 gearbox. tank has the correct plum coloured lines (not red). re-covered seat without white piping (Goldies never had it) everything is professionally re-chromed and re-painted. new Avon tyres. GP rear. Speed Master Mk 2 front. re-wired and new chains and Pearson clutch. Everything that can be polished stainless has been renewed even the tiny nuts and bolts for the front number plate. Polished stainless steel spokes. polished stainless wheel spindles and instrument plate. the chain guard was specially made out of polished stainless steel by Nick Pirovani because Gordon couldn't find a genuine one. Starting off life as a 350 supplied to Fron Purslow and ridden in the Clubmans junior TT by PG Kirkham in the race won by Bernard Codd. During the re-build Gordon had a Pearson crank fitted and a conversion to DBD34 GS spec. with new 500 barrel and head. valves. guides and springs and 500 exhaust pipe and silencer etc. Chronometric clocks were refurbished and rev counter case was given a pilot light inside to match the speedo. The gearbox has a new cluster except for bottom gear which was in good condition. The engine is free. gearbox selects easily. forks. engine and primary chain case never had any oil in except the engine has had oil periodically down the bore and kicked over. mag and dyno have been re-furbished. plug has a good spark. There is a new Lucas voltage regulator fitted. The bike has never been run. so would need some recommissioning e. g. timing and carburation would need checking it has been completely re-wired. It needs a small BOM battery in the traditional battery case which has been gutted to accept one. Any questions please ring 01482 647478 and ask for Geoff.
