Vintage 1946 AJS 16M Matchless 350cc Rigid with Teles

Here is my 1946 AJS 350cc. very original old bike. it has stood 18 months without being ran. lightly recommissioned yesterday. drained the old oil then put new in. drained old petrol and put fresh in. cleaned the points and it started 2nd kick. Runs exactly how it should. very quiet running engine with nothing at all a miss no nasty noises and not smokey.
The bike got a full restoration around 10 years ago thus having great patina what you would only achieve from an older restored bike. The clutch and gears all work well. All the wiring is neat and tidy. The lights work ok. horn works and its charging ok.
Rims and tyres are like new. rims have nice black and gold lined centres. The brakes work fine. all the tin ware is original to the bike.
I've just rode it around 20 miles yesterday and it runs really good. I've since started the bike up couple of times and it started 1st kick every time. definitely a well sorted bike. The previous owner assured me its only ran maybe 1500 miles since being restored. its very easy to get on the rear stand and also has it side stand. there are one or two small marks here and there on the paint work not really worth mentioning just thought I'd better.

Note - when it got restored they left the original suppliers shop badge on the rear mudguard which you never usually see. coliseum motorcycles - Vincent rd - Newport mon - probably long gone now.

The frame and engine numbers are not identical the engines original stamping is 46 16m. which relates to 1946. so I think it is the original engine. I've been told just because the frame and engine numbers are not identical to each other does not mean they did not leave the factory together. so it probably is the original. but please make your own mind up about this because I'm not really that fussed myself.

So there we have it a very nice useable old British bike which is an excellent runner and a very easy starter.

MOT and tax exempt. leaves with its V5c.
