Description
1950 BSA D1 Competition Bantam
Here is a very rare genuine BSA D1 Competition Bantam for restoration.
The bike is verified by the factory records as being a Competition model having left the factory on 14th December 1949 for Fosters of Parkstone. Dorset.
The frame looks good and straight. just brush painted though.
Petrol tank is excellent inside.
There are two engines a D3 & D7. One of the heads looks to be a high compression type.
Front forks are the heavyweight type as per 250 BSA C10 / C11 etc
Front rim is 21” in sound useable condition good spokes but with poor chrome. rear rim is very good and would clean up nicely.
There is a spare rear wheel in poor condition.
There are some parts from a D7 or later swinging arm frame included for spares. The subframe does not match the front frame of this spare swing arm frame.
There is no paperwork relating to the bike but the frame number YD1-25218 is in the factory records as a 1950 model Competition D1 and a VMCC extract of the factory record is included. It will be possible to obtain an age related registration mark for the machine when it's up and together.
All in all this is an interesting and rare opportunity to build a Trials bantam. as most were upgraded in cc this will make a nice lightweight trials machine typical of the period.
Collection in Person obviously preferred for this item.
