Description
Here we have an exceptional 1977 Triumph Bonneville T140. Silver Jubilee. "one of a thousand" special edition. Completely original. not restored. one owner from new. and only covered 765 miles in 39 years ! A collectors gem and sound investment.
To coincide with celebrations in Britain marking the 25th year of Queen Elizabeth 2nd reign. Triumph created this special edition Bonneville. It's distinctive trim featured silver. as well as patriotic red. white and blue. Triumph decided that the Jubilee Bonneville would be made in a limited edition of 1000 and the first batch side panel badges bore the legend "One of a Thousand"
Air Cooled. Four Stroke. Parallel Twin. OHC. 2 valves per cylinder.
Engine numbers on the Jubilee followed the same sequence as standard T140V models but with a J suffix instead of the V. For 1977 engine numbers began at GP 75000. This bike is Vin number JP84651J.
All outer engine cases. primary drive cover. gearbox outer cover and timing cover are finished in bright chromium plate. applied on the aluminum alloy.
The Jubilee introduced " upside-down " girling gas shock absorbers fitted with their pre-load adjusters uppermost. Like the the standard oil-damped units. they featured chrome springs. The wheels on the Jubilee were clearly different in terms of finish. Instead of being in plain chrome. ach wheel rim had a blue central band with white inner and red outer pinstriping. painted over the plating. This Jubilee has its original Dunlop Red Stripe tyres. a Dunlop K91. 4. 10 x 19in at the front and a 4. 10 x 18in at the rear. with red lining and directional arrows on the sidewalls.
As you can see from the photos the bike is in remarkable original condition. having spent its pampered life in a climate controlled environment. It's not far from the condition it was when it left the factory 39 years ago. With a few very minor cosmetic touches she could be show standard. the painted blue central band has some flaking. on both wheels.
Beautiful unmarked tank and bodywork. Everything works perfectly. Starts first kick. sounds great and rides well. It's as nice as you will find that has actually been ridden.
UK registered bike with the V5 in my name.
A new Battery has been fitted. Oil changed. New spark plugs. Carbs cleaned. new gaskets and Vinton needles. replacing the original plastic ones. New Fuel lines. Brakes all good. Original Tyres in remarkably good condition. All nuts. bolts and wiring in excellent condition.Courier: I use Chas Mortimer. www.chasmortimer.co.uk to deliver the Triumph to your door.
