Description

Nearing completion. 1953 BSA 650cc A10 Golden Flash Plunger custom build.
This build has been ongoing for over 2 years with a serious amount of thought and detail put in so far. Unfortunately. a house move is required and right now as much as it hurts. additional funds are required.
I do not have to sell the bike and will not let it go for silly money. I have invested well over £7.000 so far in the build on top of the purchase price.
What's left to do? Well just the bottom end engine rebuild (was running fine before stripped but bearings were obviously ready for replacement). put the engine back together and drop it in. The Bike is built and ready to hit the road once this is done.
I'm not expecting to make a profit nor get all my money back. that was never my intention. this was a pure labour of love and enthusiasm to build something different in my own style. I will entertain sensible offers. but as I say I do not need to sell the bike. if it does not bring a sensible offer I will find the money elsewhere and finish it later this year.
Here is a brief history of the work so far.
The bike was rescued from a workshop store where it had stood for 20 years. Within 30 minutes we had some fresh oil and fuel in and she fired up. The bike is no longer registered with the DVLA having not been picked up in the computerisation of records many years ago. however 16 years ago the previous owner. keen to get it back on the road obtained the correct dating certificate from none other than Brian Pollitt ex owner of Lightening Spares. I have all the forms from the DVLA ready to register the bike and obtain the correct date related number plate.
The bike as you will see if not being built to original spec it is a custom bobber. The theme was “Black and Brass”. quite a popular look at the moment.
Some of the work:
Frame and many parts stripped and powder coated (Triple S Powder Coating in Bingley). New front fork stanchions and bushes (lightening Spares). New rear plunger stanchions. bushes and springs (lightening Spares). Taper roller bearings in steering (lightening Spares). Bates headlight with brass glass ring. Discrete LED bullet indicators. Rebuilt wheels with new bearings. stainless steel spokes. brass spoke nipples. new brake linings. new rear sprocket. stainless steel spindles front and quick release rear. Brand new tyres fitted (SRM Classic Bikes). Hand made in US solid brass knurled handlebar grips and throttle. Custom Seat Shox in Copper. Custom seat pan and high quality tan leather (Colne Creek Leather). Brand new made to order correct pre Monobloc 276 Amal carburettor (Amal). New Alton Alternator to replace dynamo (SRM Classic Bikes). Custom Electronic Ignition designed to fit inside original Magneto body (SRM Classic Bikes). Custom wiring Loom with concealed mini switches wired through handlebars. World War 1 artillery shell electrics box. Custom Stainless Battery box. Solid Bass Monza filler cap. High quality paintwork in high gloss black and gold pinstriping (Precision Motorcycle Paintwork. North Crawley. Buckinghamshire)Unleaded valve seats and re-sleeved bores to standard and new pistons (David Burton Engineering. Thornton-Cleveleys). Rebuilt gearbox with 2 spares, Replacement clutch. Handmade rear light and number plate cluster. Many brass items bought or hand made. Stainless steel replacement bolts, nuts and screws throughout with no expense spared (lightening Spares).

The list goes on but the important bit that I have left in its original state is the Smiths speedometer and it is my intention to leave it in the state it came in with the bike.
Please check out the pictures and get in touch with any questions. There is no warranty or guarantee with this bike. It is a part finished project that you will need to finish and fine tune to get back on the road.
Collection only. I WILL NOT DELIVER. You will need a van or trailer.
Payment must be cleared before collection. Seriously interested viewing welcome. Tyre kickers please stay away.
