1942 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead

When is the last time you saw a real pre-war civilian 1942 Harley big twin for sale? Especially all together and running?

The 1942 Knucklehead model FL is the high performance 74 cubic inch 48 horsepower machine that was advertised as weighing 535 pounds and capable of a top speed of 105 mph.

Only 799 civilian model Harley Big Twins were built in 1942 due to the US entering the war. Making this a very rare, low production machine.

They are very rare and seldom come up for sale. Here is one with great VIN stamps and pad.

Starts easily after a couple of primer kicks, good Linkert carb, engine, 4-speed transmission, engine and brakes.

Most of the bike is genuine Harley-Davidson parts, other than the aftermarket speedometer, floorboard inserts,12-volt generator and muffler.

And the ignition has been upgraded to 12 volts for better lighting at night.

Genuine Harley Guide headlight, genuine Harley forks, frame, tins (but repainted), tank badges, Linkert carb, engine and transmission. Looks to be real Harley air cleaner and saddle.

This bike was owned by an ex TWA pilot so he painted the bike red and white - his company's colors.

It starts right up with little effort, idles and runs well through all the gears. Tracks smooth and straight down the road and is about as issue free as you could expect from a 77 year old motorcycle.

This was built by previous owners to be a good looking, fun to ride machine, and I feel they met their goals.
I have a clear title in hand. The bike is in Connecticut.
