Description
Up for sale is this 1947 Harley-Davidson FL Knucklehead Original Paint “Mr. Bill”. 1947 is the last year for the knucklehead and can be considered a 1 year only machine based on some of the changes it received with anticipation of the Panhead arriving. There were roughly 11,348 of these machines made in 1947 and roughly 6,893 were FL Models. What makes these even more rare was the fact that for decades people were pulling out the FL motors and chopping them up etc. because of the larger displacement over the EL Models. So a true 1947 FL that survived with its original paint that has a history is becoming very rare to find. These bikes rarely come up for sale on the open market especially as an unmolested near original OP that is nearly a celebrity. Here is your chance to own a piece of Harley-Davidson history.
I acquired this bike from a private collector that had owned it for many years. @huntingharleys Todd. You can see his famous videos on youtube which if you are looking at this add you may recognize the bike already as Mr. Bill. It's quite insane how tight everything feels. It rolls around the garage like you would expect a bike off the factory back then to move and operate. Its impressive having owned many bikes and old choppers to truly understand that many of the components of this bike have really never been disassembled from the factory. It's very very clean. The belly numbers match and the cases do not have any repairs. When you watch the video you will see that some components were added or changed through the years. But it was really only done out of necessity and not done to change the bike from its original form. Just watch the video and you will most certainly understand. I am in no way an expert or trying to say that I am. Some things I know. I have a love and passion for motorcycles. I have really loved and enjoyed owning this bike and will truly miss it. So I hope there is the right buyer out there that can understand my decision to sell and will be excited to truly take care of this piece of history for years to come. I think it belongs where others can enjoy it. P.S. I think my favorite part is Bills initials in the Buco Bags.
Please Note the Main photo has my early Knuckle Solo seat on the bike. It is not included. The buddy seat that originally came with this bike is included and referenced in the other photos.
Please give me a call to discuss the bike and I can send you more pics if needed. If you want to know and you're serious just give me a call. Shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer but we can discuss arrangements. Buyer must send a $1000 deposit within 24 hours.
****Just to add a quick update. I also have the Original Michigan License Plate from the Mr. Bill Video, along with the Front and Rear Turn Signals that were added later. We are looking for the Windshield but not certain we will be able to find it yet.
