Description
Honda CB900f DOHC for sale.
I have owned this bike for 8 years and around 8000 glorious miles. As you can see the bike is in superb condition. I have kept it outwardly in original -ish condition with some subtle modifications. The exhaust is an original 4 into 2 system.
It's a long story but basically it wasn't the bike I expected when I bought it in 2011. So since then I have carried out the following work and improvements.
Engine rebuilt with new everything! Cam chains and tensioners, APE studs, 985 pistons, brand new cylinder head and valves, gaskets etc.
Frame aligned at HB motorcycles then powder coated. (Not many CB's have dead straight frames).
Front forks (39mm) rebuilt with 0.9kg Racetech springs, compression emulators, preload adjusters and a fork brace. Rear shocks are rather nice stainless Hagon Nitro's. Tyres are continental road attack radials and are astounding.
Carbs rebuilt after ultrasonic clean with a rebuild kit from Randaks (quality kit from the US). New inlet rubbers and a K&N filter in the original air box too.
I had every bolt, spindle, nut and bracket re zinc plated too.
Fuel tank lined, new genuine tap. Full repaint in early FZ colours, crank cases and barrels painted to suit, the new cylinder head was already silver.
I had a few charging issues, but I overcame this with a mosfet regulator rectifier, Electro sports rotor, Electrex world stator and direct wiring via a 30 amp fuse to the AGM battery, so no stone un-turned.
The bike goes very well indeed, smooth and fast and handles surprisingly well with its improved ride height. There is a fair amount of clutch rattle when cold, the carbs chatter a bit on the overrun or on partial throttle, it all goes quiet when you open the taps a bit. oh and the neutral light works when it feels like it! I have recently changed the oil and filter, checked the valve clearances, adjusted the chains and balanced the carbs. So it's all good for the summer. I didn't ride it last year and barely the year before, I'm a bit spoilt for bikes, so it's making room for a Panigale and a couple more projects. Please feel free to come and have a look, drink tea, ask questions there will be loads of stuff I've forgotten. It's 38 years old so it isn't perfect.
Cash on collection only please, I'm posting it anywhere, no test rides without cash in my hand, I've a pretty good idea what it's worth. Thank you for looking.
