Description
The bike originally came from Brockton Kawasaki in Massachusetts as the seller stated in his listing. I believe the owner of the shop at that time did have 2 original factory turbos in his collection that he had purchased so this may be one of those bikes. It's one of the earliest vin # z1rs I have seen or come across. The last owner at 19000 miles had the top end rebuilt with a full valve job along with a 1045 turbo piston kit. At 22000 he had the turbo rebuilt and added accel super coils, wires, electronic ignition along with a Barnett clutch set up. He also swapped the carb from the Zenith to a Keihin carb. I do have the Zenith carb that will go along with the bike. All the work was performed by Brockton Kawasaki. When I bought the bike in 2010 it had been not ridden much and stored since 1997 in his shed. The bike was pretty rusty and in rough looking shape. When I got it home I removed the carb cleaned it and I did run it up and down my street and it ran great. So few years ago I started taking the bike apart to clean it up and restore it. Since the engine and turbo all had recent upgrades the motor was just cleaned and painted. The frame and painted parts all were taken down to bare metal and repainted including the rims. The exhaust and outer turbo housing were glass beaded and hand sanded and coated with a high heat silver ceramic paint. Only ding on the exhaust system is on the under side from the kick stand which was common and it still has the original baffle. I did paint the rear brake lever and the 2 front brake line support loops so these items will need to be re-chromed along with a few of the nuts and bolts that are not perfect on the bike.
A list of work completed and new parts that I put on the bike are a new decal kit and paint along with all new emblems. The paint looks amazing and my painter has had his work featured on the cover of Bagger Magazine and is very good! The inside of the tank was coated by the previous owner and is still perfect inside but the original gas cap has light pitting. The front forks were rebuilt with new seals, fluid and dust boots. Both master cylinders and calipers were rebuilt with new brake pads. When taken off the lift the front brakes were still not working so they will still need attention. The bike has sat on my lift for awhile so not sure if the caliper pistons are stuck from sitting. I did restore the speedometer with a new face plate and glass. New face plate on the tachometer. Brand new OEM dash and new windshield installed with original trim. New old stock boost gauge, Filt-O-Reg fuel regulator and ATP electronic fuel pump. Brand new fuel lines and filter. New grips and mirrors. New front and rear sprockets. The chain is in decent shape with 50% or so left. New Avon Road Rider tires. New turn signals. I put a cleaner set of shocks on it that I believe are ltd shocks. The originals were not on the bike at the time of purchase. New oil, filter and spark plugs. Also dropped and cleaned out the oil pan and installed a new gasket. Changed out the starter which was no good. The seat has been recovered and the original kick start lever is mounted on the underside still. I also adjusted all the valve clearances. If the bike sells I also have a new sealed battery that is included also.
I have run the bike on the lift a few times with a fuel bottle after everything was assembled and it does start up and runs well and goes through all the gears as it should. It didn't want to idle under 1900 rpm so it may need some fine tuning. The engine does not smoke and everything seemed tight with no play in the turbo since is was just rebuilt. Understand the bike will need a little work still to be perfect and rideable. The engine cases are in pretty good shape. There is 1 small chip on a cylinder fin which is located behind the exhaust and not noticeable unless you look behind it. The chrome air cleaner cover could use to be re-plated also. There is also a crack in the chain guard. All the electronics appear to be in good working order from what I have seen. When I took the bike out to detail it and take pictures yesterday I did notice a very light leak on the turbo oil return line running to the oil fill so that will also need attention. I did have the turbo supplement book but have misplaced it so if I find it that will be included. The bike does not have the tool kit.
I have included pictures of the title that's in the original owners name and just signed and dated by him and open for transfer. The rest of the title was left blank and not filled out. If this an issue I know you could get paperwork through the state of Vermont no matter where you reside in the US.
I was just notified that the house and property that I have been renting for the last 20 years will be up for sale in the next few months. So please only bid if you intend on following through as I need to move very soon.
All sales are final and the bike is being sold as is.
