Description
What we have here is a great running 1946 Indian Chief. Always starts up after a couple of primer kicks right off without any problems and runs smooth. I was told by the prior owner that it was a complete bike before restoration (original tins to bike and original motor trans to frame). I said on the video that this bike is all original, but I am sure it has some aftermarket parts on it. I said original meaning it is in stock dress (ie: sits and rides like it did in 1946). I am not an Indian expert so I cannot tell what is not original. I know the charging system has been upgraded (still 6 volt though).
I just checked the numbers: motor - CDF919, frame - 346919 (first number hard to read but I think it is a 3... could be 8)
When I got the bike the clutch was a little bit sticky from sitting. I have not done anything about it. It seems to shift fine but when dropping into first it grinds a little as the clutch is dragging just a little bit. It can be driven fine but a little hard to shift... if one was to want to drive it a lot I would recommend cleaning the clutch disks. As far as the rest of the bike I believe it needs nothing, top quality restoration.
I have a book with work done invoices (previous owner) It looks like the upper-end was done in 2006... lower-end might have been done in 1996 but not sure. I have never read all the invoices (there are quite a few). I do have a clean pink slip (state of New Jersey). I believe it has very few miles since restoration (Corbin speedometer shows 256 miles)
As always, this bike is being sold as is where is (northern California). Buyer is responsible for pick-up, shipping and what not. I will not crate, but will hold on to for a couple of months while buyer figures out how to get a truck here. There is no warranty or guarantees.
I have a lot of bikes and have only kept the best of the best. This is one of the best... no disappointments.
I want a cashiers check for the remaining balance within 10 days.
No trades as I am thinning the herd... gotta start sometime.
