Description
1949 BSA B31/ B32 350cc plunger model good runner with V5C doc
Here is a very nice old plunger BSA 350cc single, registered as a B32, but has an all iron engine and a 1951 frame.
The bike starts very easily (rebuilt mag fitted) and runs well. No smoke, no knocks or rattles but engine is not totally mechanically quiet. It sounds like a sound, well used engine.
It rides really well and goes very well. It reaches 60mph briskly. It brakes reasonably well and handles nicely. The electrics are working OK charging and regulating properly. Smith's 80mph speedo is working well.
This is a solid old bike that has come through the years in generally nice all round condition.
It comes with a V5C doc, registration AEU 239 (cannot be transferred to another vehicle). Frame number is ZB31.S.15412, engine number is ZB32.513
The bike is registered for Historic Vehicle free road tax and is MOT exempt.
Cosmetically the bike is in good, quite typical old bike condition. The enamel on the frame is sound but dull and mottled in places.
The tank has “orange peel” effect under the paint, probably a sign that it was once chrome plated.
Mudguards and other tinware is all good black enamel.
Front rim is excellent 21”, very good chrome with some minor speckling. Spokes are very good clean original plated type. Front tyre is Avon SM ribbed 3.00 x21 in unused looking condition.
Rear rim & spokes are all pretty well perfect. Rear tyre is unused looking Avon SM MKII.
Saddle and pillion are in good condition.
Primary chaincase does drip oil a bit but generally the engine is pretty oil tight. There is no fin damage.
Both side and centre stands are fitted and are in good order. The centre stand is quite easy to use as there is a very good grab handle to the rear.
All in all this is a nice old BSA 350cc single ready to ride or improve as is or possibly restore to a higher standard.
