Seller notes: “Recent barn find Royal Enfield 2 stroke from around 1924. This is the slightly rarer model having the 2 speed "Heel & Toe" foot change type gear. Engine and gearbox turns over okay but the chains are very rusted so makes it difficult. Has the original Lucas magneto and Brown and Barlow carburettor still fitted. What you see is what you get here. There are no mudguards or rear carrier rack. No chain cover. No saddle, no footrests / footboards. No rear brake block / pedal and it will need handlebar control levers.”

Description
Vintage pre war flat tank c.1924 Royal Enfield 225cc 2 1/4 HP 2 stroke motorcycle project.
This is a recent barn find and is being sold for restoration.
No documentation with the bike sadly.
Engine number - 16012, Frame number - 14462.
This is the lesser seen model with the rarer 2 speed "Heel & Toe" type foot change gear unit instead of the more commonly seen models with the "Coffee grinder" type handle fitted to the top frame tube.
Frame, forks, engine, gearbox, handlebars and petrol tank are all in very solid order given the time its been in the barn! It mostly just has surface rust.
Also has its original Lucas magneto and Brown & Barlow carb still.
The wheels will definitely need rebuilding as the rims and spokes are very badly rusted.
Will need the following parts -
Mudguards, rear carrier rack frame, primary drive / magneto chain guard, rear chain guard, foot rest bar or footboards, Saddle, rear brake block unit and pedal, exhaust silencer, rear stand and handlebar control levers.
I'm sure there will be other odds and ends it needs but these are the items I could think of so far.
Overall, this will make a lovely pre war girder fork machine which would also be Banbury eligible! Just needs the time and knowhow putting in to get her right again.
If you have any questions or need any other pictures please do message me, and I will do my best to help where I can.
Bank transfer please. Collection to be made in person, please as I need the space and don't want it sitting round for weeks on end.
If you absolutely cannot collect yourself in person, I can recommend Chas Mortimer who specialise in motorcycle transportation and delivery. If this is the case, then the full balance is to be paid via Bank transfer please!
Location is Chingford, North London / Essex border so no Congestion charge zone here but there is a Low Emission Zone.
