2016 Yamaha YXZ

2016 Yamaha YXZ 1000R Special Edition 60th Anniversary. Three pedal (Gas, brake, clutch) with manual sequentional transmission.
This listing is for a "Mechanics Special." The car will need a new engine. The car has always been loved, maintained, and upgraded with the best components for a vehicle. On the last trip out the engine "Threw a rod." The incident resulted in a hole being created in the side of the engine block. A computer search revealed this rod defect was an known issue on the early YXZ's. The car is solid other than needing an engine.

The bad:
Car will need a new engine. Great buy for a mechanic, someone who would like to build a high performance engine, race team, or someone willing to put in a little work for a great car. An above photo shows hole in engine block.
Plastic package tray was sectioned into quarters to remove without removing cage. This allows an owner to work on vehicle easily without removing cage when they need to access the top of the motor. I don't consider this a bad but thought I should let a potential owner know so they are not caught off guard.
Mechanic removed intake while determining what would need to be replaced after engine blew. When I decided not to go further with the engine replacement he just set the intake in the intake boots but did not tighten them up. This was done as new owner will need to remove it to replace motor. Intake is secured with all mounting brackets so it wont come off vehicle until motor is removed.
I'm trying to be as honest and transparent with the car as possible. It was a wonderful problem free car until the motor blew. I tried my hardest to address any YXZ weak links before they occurred.

Vehicle was always stored in an enclosed trailer or garage. It was staged in the driveway for photos only.
