Description
Somebody please buy this so I don't have to part it out! RARE 1930 Indian Chief Motorcycle project with cast aluminum gas/oil tanks & clear title. I would say this is 90% complete, and all of the hard to find, expensive items are here. Engine is in great shape, complete with loaded cam gear chest, flywheels, rods, pistons (rings are missing), & valves. Cylinder bores are clean (rear cylinder has wear at the very bottom where the cylinder extends into the spigot). Piston-to-wall clearance is nice, as is valve-to-guide fit. Valves may be re-used. Cylinders have no broken fins, heads have multiple broken fins, but are not beyond repair. Cams look good. Splitdorf generator and Bosch magneto are complete. Carburetor is complete Schebler DLX 14 for Indian Big Chief, in excellent condition with original nickel plating & hard to find air snout. Transmission is complete, gears & shafts look good. Primary case is in great shape and packed. All cases are in excellent shape with no damage or repairs. The chassis is straight and very solid, fork is straight and solid, handlebars are straight and solid with all neck bearing hardware in place. Front fender is solid. Both hubs roll freely and are complete. The front brake drum will need to be repaired/replaced due to rust. The rear brake is missing, but may be sourced from an eBay seller in Poland. Both rims are missing. If buyer requests, we can negotiate having me buy/build wheels & tires for it to make it a roller. The foot boards are here, and I have rocker clutch and brake pedals, kickstand, headlight shell, kick-starter crank gear, and dash panel for it. Seat is original Indian with Indian logo embossed in the leather. Cast aluminum gas tanks still wear a thin layer of original Springfield Indian red paint, and condition of both sides is excellent with no damage or repairs. I'm not an Indian expert- more of a Harley-Davidson guy- but I do know these early depression era Indians are very rare. What I know to be missing is; rear brake, headlight mounts, tail light, exhaust, gas caps, spokes, rims, tires, rear fender (available on eBay), left front motor-mount, key switch. I can make or fix anything missing or in need of repair on this, as can any reputable restorer. Hagarty currently values a concours quality 1930 Indian Chief at $81,000, $58,800 for excellent condition, with even the average 1930 Indian Chief valued at $38,200. There is ample opportunity here for an appreciating investment that you may enjoy thoroughly. I will ship worldwide.
