Description
I'm losing my storage facility end of June so its got to go hence bargain price!
This auction is for my 1957 AJS 350 16MS, its very disappointing to be selling it. I've had it a since July 2024, ( V5 registered to me, taxed, insured and MOT'd ) been out on it 5 or 6 times, covered around 180 miles, runs great BUT, there is an expression “can't teach old dogs new tricks“ is very apt! I've been riding jap bikes for more than 4 decades and I cannot sync my brain into righthand gearchange and more importantly lefthand rear brake. Its ok when the roads are quiet but when I need to stop quickly I instinctively grab the front brake and change up a gear ! not good. So full description of bike. I would describe it as in very good condition throughout, not immaculate. Highlights, electric start, yes that's not a typo.
Not a backstreet conversion but the real deal Pazone electronic ignition, 12 volt conversion with a full LED headlight. Since I've had it, work completed All oils drained and replenished with correct grades of oil. Tappets checked and correctly adjusted. Front brake shoes relined with super soft linings, it actually stops very well now. New front brake cable, new clutch cable, carb spent a day in an ultrasonic cleaner, rebuilt with genuine Amal gasket kit, float needle changed for a Vitron needle, tank cleaned and flushed, 1 new fuel tap, genuine Amal cone filter. The bike came with a brand new huge Shorai Lithium battery. I fitted an easy lift mainstand and adapted the sidestand to a non suicide version. Its got a Craven topbox and rack.
Bike was MOT'd 13-9-24, no advisories, It is MOT exempt, I just wanted a professional inspector to check it over, also to appease the insurance company that it is fully roadworthy.
I've kinda lost the confidence to take it out in your average 2024/5 traffic. Also the registration which is transferable has been valued at £1200.
Bike is located PO7, Denmead Winter lay up procedure Oct 24, run up to full running temp, turn off fuel tap and run until carb empty. Drain fuel tank, put into carcoon on mainstand with wooden block under front of engine to keep both tyres off the ground. Spring re-commission. 29-05-25 Replen fuel tank with 5 litres V power petrol treated with ethanol stabilizer and a drop of lead additive, tyres needed about 3 psi to bring up to pressure. Bike started 2nd time, running sweet no probs.
Any questions, more pics just ask.
Thanks for looking.
