Velocette MOV 250 cc.
One project too many unfortunately, usual story, owned for maybe 6 yrs, untouched in two yrs so needs to go to a more attentive owner. V5c in my name, I bought it as it is seen in photos, I'm 3rd owner. I'm not a dealer, just an old bike enthusiast but getting old myself. I bought it as a 1935 MOV but on examination of V5C today I'm slightly irked to notice its regd as 1960 which is weird as it's an early engine and has girders. 1960 plainly makes it less valuable than 1935 so I could have chipped the fellow down a bit on the price. Did run two years ago, pumped oil back into tank, engine seemed in fine fettle, dry storage since in my heated, bone dry workshop. Still has fat blue spark but no attempt made to start it since. Turns over with loads of compression, been kicked over every few weeks to keep the juices flowing. Bike interested me as it has a modified frame ( braced and better ground clearance ) and engine ( big fin head plus extra oil return lines, a professional job) presumably for competition but other bikes and hobbies have seen this one languishing under a dust sheet. No history known and who or why SS is stamped after engine number remains a mystery. A suggestion is Keith Stevenson as he built race bikes and speedway bikes and chassis under KSS ( Keith Stevenson Special) but who knows. I wont break or sell any of the parts separately. I believe it's complete as previous owner ran it as a complete bike before starting a stalled restoration. 1ltr 40 sticker is from a couple of years ago to remind me what oil it has in it. I hope it goes to a good home. It was going to be built as an oily rag bike in the style of the magnificent looking 1930's Velo race bikes, hence the patina. I'll try answer any questions.

I'm bewildered (read alarmed) by the level of interest in this old Velocette. To clarify a few things/address queries: It's nothing special as far as I know. I have no idea if reg no is transferable and wouldn't know how to check. Ignore speedo mileage as goodness knows why it reads so low. Engine last ran two years ago, sorry I have no video of that. It has been suggested that engine or frame may be other than a 250 mov. This is possible as I am no marque expert and models do look similar to me. I can't definitively say it is entirely complete but was sold to me as such and all parts in images were what I bought as a partially dismantled 250 mov. If you're looking at bikes of this age you'll understand this caveat: This is sold as a project with no warranty expressed or implied. Looking around the old girl this afternoon I half wished I hadn't listed it as she does have a certain style. Bikes from that period do look great.
