Description
Selling on behalf of a friend who is reducing his large collection but sadly is not internet savvy! I will be listing a few bikes on his behalf, all would need to be collected from South London SE5 although delivery could be arranged, send a post code for a quote. This is a rare Velocette LE200 Mark 3, believed to be an ex-police machine it should be fitted with the 4-speed gearbox. It turns over with very good compression, showing 11997 miles which may or may not be true! I can't imagine it would take much to get it going again. It has been stored at the back of a dusty warehouse for some time so sold as a non-runner for restoration or recommissioning and is complete with a key and V5 (non-transferrable.) Once recommissioned it will be tax and MOT exempt, it has been stored for many years without moving so sold as a non-runner, although the engine turns and it rolls, the cables and brakes work and the tyres are holding air! No attempt has been made to start it; it is sold exactly as you see it here. It comes with a V5 & key.
The Velocette LE was quite a sophisticated bike for their time with a 200cc horizontally opposed water-cooled side valve engine with shaft drive and they were mostly used by the police for local patrols they were known as the Noddy bike as police constables were only required to nod rather than salute. Structurally the bike is complete, it has been repainted at some point and the grey paint can be seen in the tool box, it even has it's bicycle pump, use as is once recommissioned, you will obviously need to go through the bike to understand what needs doing, but I'd imagine it should be a fairly straightforward recommission. It is sold strictly as seen for spares or repair. I cannot recommend highly enough The LE Velo club who cater for all the smaller Velocettes: https://le-velo-club.com/ they can help with advice and spares.
