Description
1939 BSA B24 Silver Star 350cc, basket case with V5C. Here is a great project particularly for someone already familiar with BSA's immediate pre-war range. It is a 1939 Silver Star 350cc. Completely dismantled, mostly complete. There are the makings of three engines in this lot. 2 sets of KB26 crankcases and 1 set of Silver Star KB24 cases. These have had a hard life, some serious weld repairs have been carried out but I think they could be cleaned up and used. One set of the KB26 ( standard 350cc O.H.V) are very good. Two barrels have pistons that look serviceable and there is a spare liner (not pictured). Cranks have been dismantled but there looks enough to build one or two good ones. Plenty of cams and cam plates & timing gears and chests.
The petrol tank looks very good stripped bare and some work done. Should be good enough for a rechrome job if desired.
Frame looks very good clear original KB24 1231 frame number.
Wheel hubs look tidy but not painted to a high standard. Pair of unused, slightly shop soiled British rims will clean up like new.
Comes with V5C doc. Reg 847 UXR. Frame number KB24.1231, engine number KB24.1099.
Gearbox is complete and looks good, forks look good. Mudguards are sound. Mag/dyno looks ok, carb + spares inc. float bowl (not pictured). No lights, spokes, tyres, wiring, regulator, speedo, control cables. But the parts that are missing are generally easy to get off the shelf type stuff.
Don't miss this archetypal “Basket Case” of pre war BSA 350cc OHV goodies. Should make a rewarding and worthwhile restoration. Selling as “Spares or Repairs” / for restoration.
