Description
Welcome to the auction of my Rickman Metisse Steve McQueen Desert Racer.
I bought the bike newly built from Metisse in 2017 and have used it as a ‘sunny day ride out' bike. It has never been off road or seen rain. When I bought the bike I opted for the road pack as an extra, this includes headlight, tail light and horn. I also had a lithium battery fitted, this makes kick starting the bike easy and is sensible fitment with the bike having electronic ignition. I also requested the aluminium petrol tank option, although I've always run the bike on Avgas I took this precaution because if I did choose to use pump fuel there is the dreaded ethanol to consider. I also had the steering lock stops fitted.
The bike has stainless steel rims and spokes, I can't remember whether I specified this or whether it was standard at the time. Either way the wheels are nice and shiny! The tyres are Avon Trail Riders and are barely worn.
I have the ‘Certificate of Authenticity' for the bike from Metisse. It really is a lovely bike and very easy to start and ride. I would describe the condition as ‘As new'. Why am I selling? Well, I only rode it once last year and I'm unlikely to ride it this year. If it's a sunny day, and I'm riding on my own, I'm more likely to get my bicycle out. If I'm riding with my other half she will be riding a quickish road bike so I'll get the VFR800 out. The Metisse will be looking at me saying ‘you bas****'. Viewing is welcome, I'm in Devizes. Sorry but no test rides, I will ride the bike up and down the road (unless it's raining) so you can see everything works. There are too many horror stories of things going wrong and I did once have a guy crash a bike of mine he was test riding before purchase, and then he chose not to buy! You will be welcome to start the bike yourself, from cold, so you can satisfy yourself how easy it is. Usual rules apply. Full payment visible in my bank account before the bike is taken away. I am not interested in offers or exchanges.
I was asked if the bike was registered in 2017 and therefore not Tax/MOT exempt. The V5C states 'Was registered and/or used. Declared manufactured 1967' and the taxation class is 'Historic Vehicle'.
I was also asked the engine size, it is 650cc.
