Description
Here we have a 1955 featherbed-framed motorcycle fitted with a Triumph T6 650 engine and a Norton gearbox.
This bike has just been retrieved from beneath a hoard of garage materials and was last used in 1992, according to the road fund licence tax disc.
Comes with a V5C registration document showing an age-related cherished number. The engine kicks over freely with plenty of compression. An ideal café racer or Triton project with lots of potential. Features include Borrani-style rims and twin-leading vented front brakes.
The engine was taken from the owner's previous bike, a supercharged Triumph Sprint drag bike from the '60s, but has since been converted for road use (carburettor fitted). There should be some tasty bits inside, including a camshaft, pistons, and a conrod kit. The engine still has the drag bike pulley blower supercharger cover attached to the left-hand side, which can be removed easily to reveal the outside chain drive conversion and dry clutch setup.
With some investment—such as a new fuel tank and seat unit, some paint, and polishing—you could have a stunning café racer for next summer at the right price. Check out what a decent Triton costs—anywhere from £6,000 to £13,000 for one that's recently been built—so grab yourself a bike builder's dream today. This is the real deal: a genuine 1955 café racer. First £100 deposit secures.
