Description
1960 Matchless G12 in CSR trim
Here is a beautifully restored Matchless G12 very well turned out in CSR trim.
One of the prettiest bikes of the period -an ideal eye-catcher for down at the cafe!
The bikes starts easily hot or cold. The engine runs beautifully and feels really smooth and free revving. on tick-over there is some audible non load related valve train rattle as is often the case with these engines. this is not apparent when riding the bike. it sounds very quiet mechanically when motoring.
Everything is in full working order. The dynamo charges well. brakes are excellent. rebuilt Smith's chronometric speedometer is working well.
The bike has done 121 miles since rebuild and although technically it is still running in and I have kept to 50 mpg. you can tell it really wants to go. It rides very comfortably. smooth and willing. purring along with distinctive and pleasant exhaust note. Duplex frame handles superbly. Side & Centre stands are both in good condition.
Gearbox and clutch are perfect. Super sweet gearchange!
It comes with up to date V5C registration docs. Reg is YUL 143 (transferable). date of registration is 10/02/1960.
Frame number A71737 & Engine number 60/G12LX 3913 both match the V5C doc.
Cosmetically the bike is in all round beautiful condition.
The stoving on the frame is of an excellent standard. and the black tinware is beautifully enamelled too. The tank has authentic Matchless CSR red which is also a very nice job and sets the bike off a treat.
Rims are new (stainless) but look like chrome. spokes are new. tyres are new.
seat is new. exhaust is new. mudguards are new etc. etc. The engine is clean and oil tight and has no fin damage.
This is an extremely tidy and attractive machine! Don't miss this period classic “coffee-shop-racer” 650!
