Description

SUNBEAM S7 1952

PHT 241

I bought this bike in Southampton in 2003 as a wreck.

I immediately stripped it and bought all the necessary parts and had the following engineering work and parts by Stewarts:

Speedo Cable Clutch Cable Front Brake Cable Oil Seals (forks rebuilt)

Mudguard Bridges

New Tyres and Tubes

Wheel Bearings

Rear bevel inspected

Rebore

Crank Grind

Mains

Big Ends

Pistons & Rings

Chain Tensioner

Various Helicoils

Various special bolts etc.

Wiring Loom

Hamdlebars

Brake Shoes

Air Cleaner

Saddle Springs

Grips

Forks seals

Snubbers and engine mounts

UJ

Gasket sets

Timing Chain

Clutch

Valve Springs

New Downpipes & Silencer

Chrome plating etc.

It also has a transistorised ignition booster.

New Mikuni Carb Kit as well as original and later concentric.

New Camshaft

All Engine mount rubbers.

Brake Shoes New

Wheel Bearings New

Air Cleaner New

New Stainless Steel Ex Flexi Pipe. Chrome Down pipe & Silencer

Clutch New

All re chroming to original items but not 'over chroming' to things that should not be plated.

Handlebar Grips New

Richard Turner Clutch Mod (Lighter Action) Kit

Juergen Schuepbach Electronic Ignition (all paperwork inc).

Distributor all present and correct.

I am only the third owner of the bike and I have the names and addresses of the two other owners.

Speedo and Right Angle Drive present.

The registration number PHT 241 is the original number and thus transferable ( but that would be a shame).

The rear number plate and light are not original but these are freely available on the web in both original and Indian remanufactured form.

A huge file and box folder of supporting paperwork.

I have a photo of the state it was in when I bought it (someone had decided to turn it into a chopper but fortunately had given up pretty quickly) which I will sort out and put in the file.

+ lots more. but I'm getting bored listing it and depressed seeing how much its cost me.

The motor was assembled by myself and my brother and various other jobs completed. Unfortunately my brother suffered ill health from MS and ultimately passed away.

This stalled the project which was loosely assembled to keep it all together and has sat at the back of my workshop for about 5 years now untouched.

I would suggest that it requires a full strip down again and a rebuild but safe in the knowledge that all the money has been spent and only oils seals and gaskets should be required as everything else is new or refurbed.

The rear light is not the correct one and the air filter cover is a composite repro.

The mudguards are all original steel as is the toolbox.

There are bills totalling a few thousand for the parts and engineering work with the bike.

All the original parts we have are with the bike.

There is a bedtime book and a photocopy parts book with the bike.

It has a transferable number PHT 241.

The V5 is in my name and has been for 10 years.

I would recommend viewing.

The bike is available for viewing just south of Solihull ( 5 mins from M42 J3)

The bike is for sale elsewhere so I must reserve the right to end early if sold.

I am on the look out for a Hinckley Triumph Scrambler.

10% deposit upon purchase and balance in cash on collection or bank transfer prior to collection.

I am sure I have forgotten something salient so any questions please ask.

Just going through the paperwork and there are a number of magazine tests of the S7. A genuine handbook from the period in really good condition. As mentioned the Stewart Engineering bedside manual. A genuine October 1951 Sunbeam S7 & S8 brochure. A genuine October 1951 pricelist - the S7 is listed at £255 - 11 - 2d inc. tax. A couple of postcards modern I think.
