1980 Kawasaki Z1300 A2 Fully Restored. Original Exhaust.
I am reluctantly going to sell my fully restored 1980 Kawasaki Z1300 A2 due to other projects and shortage of space.
I bought this American import KZ1300 about four years ago and have done a total nuts and bolt restoration. it has only done 158 miles since then. I have seen quite a few Z1300's at shows and for sale over the last few years but haven't seen a fully restored to 100% example. and after restoring this one I know why (dammed hard work and some parts impossible to find).
It is an American import KZ1300 these are much better for a restoration because they generally have very little rust and corrosion unlike most UK examples. As you can see from the photos it has been completely restored to concourse condition. The engine totally striped an checked and found to be in excellent condition. All the cases have been bead blasted and re-painted then rebuilt with a new cam chain. upgrade ZZR1100 chain tensioner. seals. gaskets. lapped valves etc. The carbs striped. blasted then rebuilt with new needle. jets. gaskets etc. The genuine Kawasaki Nippon Denso clocks striped and rebuilt to mint condition and all new pistons. hoses. pads and seals fitted to the braking system.
Chrome parts has been re plated including the exhaust down pipes. nuts and bolts re-zinc plated and all the black gloss and satin black parts powder coated to better than new condition.
The Frame has been stripped blasted and powder coated. the wheels striped. polished and repainted. Many of the engine and frame nuts and bolts I have replaced with stainless items. these I have machined to match the originals. The seat is the original metal frame and foam. this was in excellent condition and has bee powder coated and re-covered. It comes with the original Kawasaki KZ1300 A2 owners manual and toolkit. Since the restoration it has only done about 158 miles.
Apart from the powder coating and plating I did all the restoration including stripping and rebuilding the engine. rebuilding the carburetors. clocks brakes etc.
This bike is nearly 100% all original Kawasaki equipment as there are virtually no pattern parts available for this model. this includes original six into two Kawasaki exhaust system. rear shocks. Nippon Denso clocks. original metal seat base and foam. Tokico master cylinder and calipers. new original pattern brake hose. original fitment Kawasaki mirrors (rare as hens teeth). petrol tank. panels and virtually everything else.
This bike runs and rides as good as it looks. no smoke from start up and ticks over perfect. Currently on sorn and will need an MOT if you intend to use it on the road.
Mileage: The speedo's fitted to the A2 model in the USA only went up to 90 MPH for some crazy reason. I have the old speedo head that was originally fitted to this bike and the mileage showing on it is 22.000 miles so I assume that is the mileage this bike has done. the new speedo now fitted is showing 158 miles.
Great investment: If you love bikes of this era and have a bit of spare cash sitting in the bank earning you a pittance in interest but making the greedy bankers a fortune this bike may be for you.
