Description
Kawasaki introduced the Z1 motorcycle in 1972 as the first of the Z series. The original Z1 was the first series of Japanese motorcycles with the combination of four cylinders and dual overhead camshafts. In 1977. a Z1000 ridden by Reg Pridmore became the first Japanese bike to win an AMA Superbike national when it took the victory at Pocono Raceway. Pridmore went on to win both the 1977 and 1978 US Superbike Championships on Kawasaki 1000s. From 1979. a 'Mk. II' version was added with a black engine and general restyling. including body and paintwork.
This Kawasaki Z1000 is no ordinary bike. It was built by Mark Hutton at A&H Performance in 1989 and took two years to complete. The frame has been raked and braced using a custom handmade swinging arm. The engine has been rebuilt to a very high specification including a re-bore to 1250cc with Wisco competition pistons. 420 Kent camshafts. steel crankshaft with Carrillo conrods and twin spark cylinder head with eight spark plugs. All of this is complemented by a Vance and Hines exhaust system and Mikuni 38mm flat side carburettors. The sound and performance of this machine is breathtaking. It has run the Santa pod raceway in 10 seconds and the same time at Long Marston raceway.
This incredible motorcycle has won every show it has entered since 2010. To ride a Kawasaki Z1000 Z1-R is a great experience to ride this one. is a privilege.
