Description
The recorded mileage is 47.000 miles on 11/07/2013. and is genuine I believe.
I have owned the Norton for 10 years. and have not had to work on the engine or gearbox at all since I've owned her. apart from tappet adjustments and oil changes. She is oil-tight and reliable. with the Boyer electronic ignition giving first kick starting (two at most). and is used regularly all year round. and well maintained.
This is the perfect classic bike that you can still use in modern traffic and on motorways. maintaining legal speeds with ease. and there is always plenty in reserve for fast acceleration and safe overtakes.
The steel fuel tank was new last year and given an internal coating of “Slosh” to protect it from the effects of the ethanol in petrol. and then treated to a professional paint job along with the steel side panels.
The front brake has been upgraded to a very effective and progressive AP-Lockheed caliper and master cylinder with a braided hose. and utilising the standard disc rotor. The rear drum brake is also very good and controllable.
The rear wheel is now an 18” rim. fitted with a new Avon Roadrider tyre. and stainless spokes. There is now some minor pitting on the steel rim though – see photos. There is also some minor surface corrosion on the frame tubes under the engine. and on swinging arm just in front of the rear wheel.
There is a Craven rack/carrier fitted. The tail and brake light is an LED conversion. so no more bulb replacements needed. and the headlight is a halogen unit. with a 23 watt pilot bulb for daytime riding if you want to.
The oil and filter was changed. and I have just fitted a new ignition switch; throttle cable; air filter; and spark plugs. The battery was new last year. The oil tank was replaced a couple of years ago. I have many assorted spares and essential tools to go with the bike. including a belt primary drive kit; the exhaust ring spanner and clutch spring compression tool etc. NOTE: These are included in the sale.
She is in very good condition and is ready to buy and ride to all the summer events around the country.
