Description
( PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLES TO EXIST ) WE CAN EASILY ARRANGE TO HAVE THIS BIKE DELIVERED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD WITH OUR SHIPPING COMPANY ) 1949 Arial Square Four 1000cc. This Motorcycle was totally restored in 2000 and has covered only 420 miles since proving to be a very reliable and enjoyable ride with plenty of torque from the 4 cylinder engine. This model was the first year with alloy cylinder block and is the crossover from the pre-war models and the later 4 piper. The frame and engine numbers match the original log book although the registration number is non-transferable.
The engine has been completly overhauled with all new bearings and rebored cylinders with the back two cylinders marginally bigger to alleviate the historic problem of the back cylinders "tightening up" ( work carried out by David Jones ). New pistons fitted. The gearbox was also overhauled with many new parts. All parts of the front Anstey rear suspension were overhauled or replaced as required. The panel tank instruments were refurbished along with a Lucas "red spot" ammeter. All parts were rechromed by Derby Plating and there is extensive use of stainless steel for many fixings.
The wheels were rebuilt using British chrome rims and stainless spokes and fitted with new tyres. Many original Arial parts which are now difficult to source were used in the rebuild. The bike has been off the road and sorned since 2008 with the fuel and oil tanks drained. The engine kicks over with good compression.
In this time of of financial turbulance the Arial Square Four should be regarded as an appreciating asset which will give years of pleasure. The bike has been dry stored in a carcoon for the past 7 years.
