Description
I am selling my 1955 BSA Golden Flash. which I have owned for nearly two years. I bought it because at the time it seamed like a good idea to give me something to play with and to take out for a run on fine summers days. However I am in my mid 60's. my health is not so good and deteriorating and I have found that the BSA is just too big and heavy for me. It has more or less sat around in the garage since I bought it. The engine fitted into the bike is the BSA A7 500cc engine not the 650cc one. The reason for this is shown in the original buff log book which comes with the bike. It states in the log book that a sidecar was fitted to the BSA in the mid 1960's and that is why the 500cc engine was put in. The 650cc engine didn't pull a sidecar as well as the 500cc one. However there is a 650cc A10 engine with the bike which the previous owner had partly rebuilt (see photo). It just needs the pistons fitting and the top end putting on. Then once replaced into the bike the buyer could have an A7 engine to sell!
The bike is in good condition apart from the chrome on the fuel tank. It looks as though somebody has had a cheap (I was going to say crap) re-chroming job done on the tank and when I went over it with a duster some of the chrome plate peeled off. It either needs re-chroming or painting gold the same as the tank would have been on the previous years model. The bike starts and runs ok and has recently had tyres fitted.
