Description
Thanks for looking at my advert. Please read the whole advert carefully. This bike was imported from Germany in the summer it is not registered in the UK at present. The new owner will be the first UK owner. It is however a perfect example of a classic. iconic superbike that is in excellent condition all round. both cosmetically and mechanically.
It was part of a large collection of 8 Bimotas and 7 Ducati's owned by a wealthy Bavarian collector.
It was made up of the best parts money could buy hence the incredibly high price when new. For the price of a new Bimota SB6R in 1999 you could buy 2 run of the mill Japanese superbikes. This bike was for the collector who wanted the best that money could buy. price wasn't an issue.
It has ohlins rear suspension and huge Paioli forks with big Brembo brakes. It has loads of bespoke billet aluminium goodies (yokes. rear suspension. peg hangers. gear linkage etc.) made by Bimota. It's most unique feature is a self suspended carbon fibre tail unit with no rear sub frame. The rest of the bodywork is made of carbonfibre too.
The engine and gearbox are from a Suzuki GSXR1100 and is widely regarded as one of the best in the business. Bimota breathed on it with big cams. valves. pistons etc. which gives it incredible performance while remaining totally tractable and has the GSXR's famous reliability. It has a dyno print out showing 150 BHP at the rear wheel!
It has had a new set of clocks fitted which are a lot more up to date and offer a lot of features/functions by the previous owner. This has however lost the mileage record. The clocks on it show approx. 6000 miles but I don't know what the overall total mileage is. Can't be that high judging by the condition of everything. It has a handbook and maintenance manual but no service booklet.
When researching on the Internet there is a bit of a myth that these are impossible to work on. People who have obviously never worked on them claim you have to remove the engine to change plugs. clean carbs. etc. which is not true. It's as straightforward as any Japanese superbike as shown in the photo's. With only 10 bolts removed you can have the tail unit and tank off and have good access.
Performance bikes magazine produced a road trip video with all the top superbikes of the day (check out You tube) and found the Bimota to be untouchable from A to B.
This is one for the collector or the rider who wants to stand out from the crowd with one of the all time iconic superbikes. It can still cut it with modern superbikes but will only go up in value.
This bike really does need to be seen to see the quality condition its in.
It has 12 months mot and the new owner will be the first registered UK owner. all registration fees (£100) included for the full sale price. The HMRC Nova forms are completed and all taxes/duty are paid.
It's a lot more fun than an ISA!
Test ride possible with agreed cash in my hand.
